Vapours

Rather then blog about this twice, I'll just give you the vapour-blog update!

"Many thanks to David White for letting us take over his studio and home for a day! Much appreciated, dude.

Bill snapped some photos of the session, and hopefully we'll have some audible samples for you in the coming weeks!

Finally managed to snag the boys for a quickie shoot before the oct 11th show after last summer's scheduled shoot got botched by drunkenness, bad timelines, broken gear, and bad weather.

Sick Puppy

Little Broadway lost 4 pounds in a few days because she got insanely ill. And still is. This has been causing extra emotional and financial stress this week. But Apart from that ... check erin's blog to see how fun biking the cabot trail was. And for some cute videos of how a puppy should behave.

PEI BikeFest

first off, watch this.

Well ... I wish I had my camera with me, but alas, it's broken and busy costing me a small fortune in mississauga. I took my 35mm with me (without film, of course) and my holga (with film i can't get processed anymore, of course). The bike trip to PEI was a success. Left early friday morning, met Bribri in Antigonish, toured mainland nova scotia for a while before heading over to the island. The roads through the east shore are really hit and miss. Some really great rides along a few massive rivers/cliffs I didn't even know existed, but then some "connecting routes" between main highways that were atrocious. I thought my bike was going to fall apart (which it did, my saddle bags broke, so we had to rig up some bungee-cord grubbiness to continue on, and my bike now has some craziness going on in the gearbox/alternator area —sounds like spare change).

Arrived in summerside as the rain started. Perfect timing. The weather was awesome for the entire ride til that point, when it was also getting dark, I was getting hungry, and my ass was sore. So, I got off the bike 12 hours after I set out 2 provinces ago. This is when I discovered my massive sunburn. My face was mostly covered with beard, hanky, helmet, and glasses. This makes for a pretty embracing sun burn.

Oh, I should also mentioned that right before hitting the Confederation Bridge, some pompous teenage fuckhead decides to pass me on the right hand shoulder. You know, on that fucking shitty NB stretch right before the bridge. Yup... I almost got killed. So, of course, after the bridge, Bribri and I pull up next to him at the lights, and start calling him out, and giving him the stare of death. I contemplated putting my boot through his window. A waste of meat, that fuckhead was. Come'on karma, don't fail me now ... hurt that fucker bad.

haha.

So ... saturday, a wedding. Went off smoothly I think. Started the day with Shawn, hitting up the First Cup Cafe, where you can still get a full homemade style breakfast for $3.95. Incredible. Also ran into Neil there, which was a pleasant surprise. And in hindsight, we should have made plans for later because I didn't really catch up with him later. After the wedding, we had a 3-4 hour wait before the reception. So shawn and I picked up a few beers, and headed towards lukes pool to further my wicked tan. It was only unfortunate that I travelled so lightly, only taking wedding cloths and motor-biking cloths. No swimming for me. But Ryan H was around, so we took part in some poolside conversation.

Reception ... vegetarian meal was a lark, as usual. But It always is, s I wasn't exactly disappointed. Table-wine was good though. I was assigned to a table with some of the other boys, shawn, neil, etc. Had a brief conversation with Tyler and his lady-friend, spilling wine whilst I chatted. Got to chat with ryan L about motorbikes, kira about ... uh probably motorbikes, myles about some rock 'n' roll, and most people about one of those, if not both. It was a little miggle-fest.

After reception ... ryan and nathans for a beer, then I was dragged out to yet another chinese restaurant. I'm actually going to stop visiting PEI if I only end up at chinese restaurants. I hate chinese food. Hate. Anyway ... I hadn't had much to eat, so I ordered some to snack on ... which apparently was a family sized serving of vegetable rice ... annoying.

Went back to Luke's for another beer, and watch everyone swim drunk in the pool. haha. Shawn raised the water level a bit after his signature "fat guy in the pool!" dive. haha. Luke ... and his signature backflips. Myles and his ... debating wether or not to attempt a backflip for about 20 minutes before just wading in. *though I think he did eventually conquer the backflip.

... then ryan droves us home for beddy-by. Thanks Ryan.

Then I slept, and slept, woke up, visited my grandmother, motorbiked around PEI for a bit. Then sat around the fire pit with Bribri, talking about the world wars.

Biked home the next morning, not before meeting Erin and her father at the causeway for a coffee and biking back to Sydney together, while brian jump-started his bike and headed back towards summerside.

and that's pretty much last weekend. See ... I should have had a camera ... would have made this post way more bearable. haha. suckers.

Oh ... I almost forgot ... Al and Chantal from Toronto. They Rule. John Bruce sent these biker friends towards Sydney to stay with us for a few days. I only wish I could have been around more that weekend, or that they would have travelled with me to PEI. Always next year guys!
